Sort Out Payment First (No Korean Phone or Bank Account Needed)

• Paying with an international (overseas-issued) card: Overseas-card payment at the new station ticket machines (in 273 stations since March 2026) is for single-journey tickets and Climate Card short-term passes only. A regular T-money card can't be topped up with an overseas card at those machines — instead, you can top it up through the Mobile T-money app (Mastercard, Amex, and UnionPay supported). If you need a physical card, buy a T-money with cash at the Transportation Center in Incheon Airport Terminal 1 or 2 and top it up, and you can immediately ride the AREX all-stop train, the subway, and buses.

Destination 1: Myeongdong

Myeongdong is a shopping, currency-exchange, and tourism hub, so it's an area packed with hotels.

Limousine Bus 6015 (The Most Straightforward)

• Route: Incheon Airport → Mapo → Gongdeok → Ahyeon → Namdaemun Market → Myeongdong Station → Chungmuro
• Frequency: about every 10–15 minutes
• Fare: 17,000 won (K-Limousine is 18,000 won), children (ages 6–12) about 11,000 won
• When departing from the airport, you can just buy your ticket first at the kiosk.

Airport Railroad + Subway Transfer

After arriving at Seoul Station on the AREX, transfer to subway Line 4 to reach Myeongdong Station. The Express takes about 43 minutes (Terminal 1) to 51 minutes (Terminal 2), and the all-stop train is cheaper but has many stops.

If your suitcase is large and the transfer stairs feel like a burden, the limousine bus is more comfortable.

Destination 2: Hongdae (Hongdae / Hongik University)

Hongdae is one of the few popular areas the AREX all-stop train reaches directly with no transfers.

• AREX All-Stop Train: Incheon Airport → … → Gimpo Airport → Digital Media City → Hongik University Station direct. It's about 55 minutes from T1 and about 60 minutes from T2, with a fare of about 4,650 won (T1) to 5,250 won (T2, transit-card basis). No separate reservation is needed — just tag your T-money and ride.
• Frequency: about every 10–15 minutes during the day, and about every 20 minutes in the early morning and late at night.

For travelers with light luggage or a tight budget, Hongdae is the most cost-effective direct route.

Destination 3: Gangnam

• Limousine Bus 6009 (Gangnam Gold Line): Stops toward Sinsa-dong → Gangnam Station → Yangjae. The fare is in the 17,000 won range.
• AREX + Subway: You can transfer at Seoul Station (or Gongdeok) to get to Gangnam, but it involves 1–2 transfers. If you have a lot of luggage, the 6009 limousine is more comfortable.

If you have a business schedule in Gangnam or Samseong-dong, it's a good idea to check in advance which hotels the limousine bus stops at.

Destination 4: Seongsu

Seongsu-dong is popular for its cafés, pop-ups, and select shops, but the direct limousine routes from Incheon Airport aren't as dense as those for Myeongdong or Gangnam.

• Recommended route: After arriving at Seoul Station or Hongik University Station on the AREX, transfer to subway Line 2 to reach Seongsu Station. If your suitcase is large, the transfer walk can be a bit long.
• Taxi / Call Taxi: If you're a group of 2–3 with a lot of luggage or you arrive late at night, a taxi can be reasonable. It's a metered fare (based on distance and time), not a flat rate, so it varies by time of day and traffic.

Destination 5: Busan

There's no direct train from Incheon Airport to Busan. The setup is to transfer to the KTX/SRT in Seoul.

1. Incheon Airport → Seoul Station: About 43–51 minutes on the AREX Express.
2. Seoul Station → Busan Station: About 2 hours 17 minutes to 3 hours by KTX (it varies by train). Standard-class fares vary by train and discount.

KTX / SRT Notes (2026)

• Since February 25, 2026, a KTX–SRT cross-operation pilot has been running — boarding the SRT at Seoul Station and the KTX at Suseo Station was partially introduced — and from May 15, 2026 it expanded to coupled (linked) operation. Along with this, fares for KTX services departing from Suseo were cut by about 10% (those trains are excluded from Korail mileage accrual).
• Non-members can also attempt a KorailTalk reservation using passport details, but payment with an overseas card often gets blocked at the 3D Secure authentication step (it varies by card network and timing).
