First Class Lounge Perk
First Class passengers can use the Korail Lounge for free at major stations such as Seoul, Yongsan, Busan, Daejeon, and Dongdaegu (drinks, coffee, charging, etc.). It comes in handy when you have a long wait before departure or need to charge a laptop.

- Short distances / budget first: Standard is plenty.
- Long trips of 3+ hours / working on board: The roomier seat, power outlet, and recliner make a noticeable difference.

2. Foreigner Discount — KORAIL PASS
This is a foreign-nationals-only pass that lets you ride Standard-class KTX and regular trains without limit for a set period (First Class and Superior require an extra fee).

If you'll take several long-distance trains within a few days, the KORAIL PASS works out cheaper. If you'll only ride once or twice, individual tickets are cheaper. Just add up the segment fares first and compare.

3. Refund / Cancellation Penalties (revised 2025-05-28)
From May 28, 2025, the fees for last-minute and weekend cancellations went up. The key point is one thing — the rules differ between weekdays (Mon–Thu) and weekends/holidays (Fri–Sun and public holidays).

4. Where Foreigners Often Get Stuck — Overseas Cards & Identity Confirmation
More foreigners get stuck at the payment step than at booking itself.
- Korail may allow a non-member booking with a passport and an overseas card, but overseas cards often fail at the 3D Secure (overseas verification) step (it varies by card issuer and timing).
