🔴 The procedure is completely different depending on whether your country has joined the Apostille Convention (member countries get an apostille; non-member countries need confirmation from their own foreign ministry plus consular confirmation at the Korean mission there). Each document is checked against a validity period (usually 3 to 6 months), so getting the order wrong means starting again. The steps at your home country's authorities are that country's business, which limits how much can be done for you.

Where you file it
The joint civil affairs office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Overseas Koreans Agency (외교부·재외동포청 통합민원실), the Ministry of Justice (법무부) for some documents, your home country's embassy in Korea, and a notary office (공증사무소)

- The original document issued in your home country
- Passport and ID
- A Korean translation
- A power of attorney (위임장) if someone acts for you
- Notarization application form
