Online issuing is free or cheap, while over-the-counter issuing carries a fee. Criminal and investigation record checks are in principle applied for in person, so whether someone else can file for you differs from police station to police station. Certificates attached to a naturalization or permanent residence application are checked against their issue date for validity (usually 3 months), so if you get them too early you will have to get them again.

- If someone applies for you, a power of attorney (위임장) and that person's ID
- The purpose of use and where the document will be submitted
