Workers who worked 1 year or more on E-9 or H-2 (departure guarantee insurance), workers enrolled in the return cost insurance, and construction workers who built up work days with the electronic card

🔴 If you do not claim the departure guarantee insurance within 3 years of the day the payment becomes due, it expires and you cannot get it. Report your planned departure to the employment center 1 month before your departure date, and claim from the insurer no later than 7 days before. If the insurance money is less than the statutory severance pay you can claim the difference from the company. This is insurer and mutual aid association business, so it is not something an administrative scrivener handles.

Papers you usually need
- Application for the insurance or mutual-aid payout
- Copies of your passport and Alien Registration Card (외국인등록증)
- Copy of a bankbook in your own name (a Korean or home-country account)
- Documents showing you plan to leave Korea, such as a flight ticket
- Construction electronic card (건설 전자카드) record of accumulated days, for the retirement mutual-aid payout
