귀화 허가 신청 (일반·간이·특별)
People who have lived 5 years or more as permanent residents (general), people whose parents were Korean or who were born in Korea (simplified), and people whose father or mother is a Korean national now, or who have made a special contribution or are highly skilled (special)

🔴 If you do not renounce your original nationality or make the non-exercise pledge within 1 year of the day you get Korean nationality, your Korean nationality disappears automatically. Special naturalization has no residence requirement and in some cases the fee is waived. Minor children have to be included in the parent's application for accompanying acquisition - you cannot file for them separately later.

Papers you usually need
- Naturalization application form (귀화허가신청서)
- Copies of your passport and your home-country ID
- Criminal record certificate from your home country (with apostille and Korean translation)
- Proof that you can support yourself (proof of assets and income)
- Social Integration Program (사회통합프로그램) completion certificate, or your Comprehensive Naturalization Aptitude Test (귀화적격 종합평가) score
- Documents about the parents' Korean nationality (for simplified or special naturalization)
