Help
Things worth knowing besides how to find a job.
If you have not been paid
If you were not paid for work you did, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Employment and Labor. You can do this no matter what your visa status is. The Labor Standards Act is there to protect people who work.
- Ministry of Employment and Labor call center 1350 (help in foreign languages)
- Go to your nearest local labor office (지방고용노동관서), or file the complaint online
- It helps if you have your work contract, pay slips, work-hour records or bank statements

If you were hurt at work
If you were hurt or got sick because of your work, you can claim work injury compensation. You can claim this no matter what your visa status is, and you can still be paid even if your company did not sign up for work injury insurance.
- Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service 1588-0075
- Keep the hospital records of your treatment
Where foreign workers can get help
- Immigration Contact Center 1345 — help with your stay and daily life in 20 languages
- Foreign Workers Support Centers (외국인노동자지원센터) — in main areas across the country, with interpreters
- Local government global centers — many of them give free legal and labor advice
If you work under the Employment Permit System (E-9)
On an E-9 visa, you have to go through an Employment Center to change workplace. The law sets this process, so no private company or person can introduce you to a workplace, and taking an introduction fee is punishable. Do not accept any offer that asks you for money.
- Employment Permit System helpline 1577-0071
- You apply to change workplace at your nearest Employment Center (고용센터)
