How to Tell Incheon Airport Terminal 1 from Terminal 2: Airlines Keep Moving, So the Old Guides Are Already Wrong
Contents

At Seoul Station, booking an AREX Express train means choosing between two arrival stations: Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Station and Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Station. Taxis are no different. If you only say "Incheon Airport," which terminal you end up at is left to chance. The two terminals are separate buildings, right down to having different street addresses, and if you arrive at the wrong one you have to backtrack for 17 to 20 minutes by free shuttle bus, going by the timetable.

The trouble is that the guidance meant to tell you which one is right is often already wrong. Between July 2025 and January 2026, several airlines moved one after another from Terminal 1 (T1) to Terminal 2 (T2). It is not just old blog posts and travel forum threads, either: even the sample screenshots on the AREX official user guide page still show the pre-move layout as of 2026-09-18.

Instead of asking you to memorize airline names, this article shows you how to pin down your terminal from a single line on your booking confirmation, how to get back when you get it wrong and the hours when both ways of getting back stop running, and the snags you hit when connecting from Incheon to a domestic flight or to Gimpo Airport.

Note: The terminal assignments, fares, times and procedures below are compiled as of 2026-09 from official information published by Incheon International Airport Corporation, the AREX, Korea Airports Corporation, and airline announcements (sources are gathered at the end of the article). Terminal assignments are updated monthly by the airport and further changes are scheduled for December 2026, so please check again with your airline and the airport's official channels before you travel.

Your terminal depends on the airline actually flying the plane, not the one that sold the ticket

At Incheon Airport, the thing that decides your terminal is the airline that actually operates the flight (the operating carrier). It is not the airline that sold you the ticket.

The notice from one airline that changed terminals in January 2026 states this principle outright. It says that codeshare flights (one aircraft sold by several airlines each under its own flight number) and marketing flights (flights carrying the flight number of the airline that only sold the ticket) must use the terminal of the airline that actually operates them, that the departure terminal and the arrival terminal may differ, and that you should check terminal information before you travel. Tickets bought on a foreign airline's website or an overseas travel booking site are often codeshares, which is why this trips up foreign passengers especially often.

The text below refers to airlines by their two-letter codes (KE, OZ, 7C and so on). There is exactly one table pairing names with codes, and it is in the next section.

Picking a terminal from the first two letters of your flight number can land you on the wrong side. Those two letters may belong to the airline that sold the ticket. Work through it in this order.

  1. On your booking confirmation (e-ticket), find "Operated by" (the operating carrier) next to or below the flight number. Use the airline named on that line as your reference.
  2. Look that airline up in the table below.
  3. If departure is within a week, enter your flight number in the departures search on the Incheon Airport website (airport.kr/ap_ko/869/subview.do). You can filter by All, T1 or T2, and clicking the flight number opens the details. The airport's own page also says to "confirm exact information with the airline concerned."
  4. Once you reach the airport, check your counter location on the flight information display system (FIDS) on the departures level. Before you arrive, the airport advises checking flight information on its website or asking the airline by phone.

The same principle applies to arrivals. The terminal you land at in Korea may not be the terminal you leave from, so if someone is meeting you, tell them the terminal along with the flight number.

When taking a taxi, lead with the name "Terminal 1" or "Terminal 2" (제1여객터미널 / 제2여객터미널). If you need to show an address, Terminal 1 is 272 Gonghang-ro, Yeongjong-gu, Incheon (인천광역시 영종구 공항로 272) and Terminal 2 is 446 Je2teomineol-daero, Yeongjong-gu, Incheon (인천광역시 영종구 제2터미널대로 446). Before Yeongjong-gu was created in Incheon's administrative reorganization on 2026-07-01, both were written as "Jung-gu," so older materials and navigation systems may still show the Jung-gu address.

Which airlines use T2 right now: one table, with the date it was checked

This is the terminal layout as checked on 2026-09-18 from the Incheon Airport airline information page (airport.kr/ap_ko/881/subview.do). The airport does not state a reference date for this table, saying only "based on scheduled passenger and cargo flights in the previous month, excluding domestic transfer flights."

Terminal Airline (code) Notes
T2 Korean Air (KE) Counters A to D (B and C for economy), desks open at 05:30
T2 Asiana Airlines (OZ) Moved from T1 on 2026-01-14. Counters G, H and J on the 3rd floor (ticketing J21 to J23), desks open at 05:00
T2 Jin Air (LJ)
T2 Air Busan (BX) Moved from T1 on 2025-07-29
T2 Air Seoul (RS) Moved from T1 on 2025-09-09
T2 Delta Air Lines (DL), Air France (AF), KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL), China Airlines (CI), Xiamen Airlines (MF), Garuda Indonesia (GA), Aeromexico (AM) Also on the T2 list in the airport corporation's press release of 2025-06-17
T2 Scandinavian Airlines (SK), Virgin Atlantic (VS) Confirmed on the airline information page only
T1 Jeju Air (7C), Eastar Jet (ZE)
T1 Trinity Airways (T'way Air before 2026-09-10, TW) The TW code, flight numbers and existing booking conditions are unchanged
T1 Aero K (RF), Parata Air (WE), Air Premia (YP) Confirmed on the airline information page only
T1 Lufthansa, United Airlines, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Thai Airways, Philippine Airlines, EVA Air and others Some of the 71 rows marked T1 (cargo airlines included)
Cannot be determined from this table Japan Airlines (JL), All Nippon Airways (NH) They appear as Cargo only, so the passenger terminal cannot be told
Not in this table British Airways (BA), Qantas (QF), Air New Zealand (NZ), Air Tahiti Nui (TN), Saudia (SV), flynas (XY), Iberia (IB), TAP Air Portugal (TP) They appear only in the airline list of the departures search. The list does not reveal whether they operate the flight themselves or only sell codeshare seats

How you use the table depends on how long you have until departure.

  • If departure is within a week, enter your flight number in the departures search on the Incheon Airport website. Note, though, that the date list is open only from about two weeks back to about six days after the day you look (on 2026-09-18 it ran 2026-09-05 to 09-24). If you have more than a week to go, your flight simply is not on that screen.
  • If departure is further out than that, look up the operating carrier from your booking confirmation in this table and on the airport's airline information page.
  • Do not assume an airline missing from the table is at T1. The airline information table is based on the previous month's scheduled flights, so seasonal flights, non-scheduled flights, charters and codeshare marketing carriers can be left out. Even then, entering the flight number in the departures search is the accurate way to check.
  • Do not guess from the airline alliance. We could not find any source in which the airport says it splits terminals by alliance. Here too, check the operating carrier on your booking confirmation and the departures search.

If you want to check in early at Seoul Station (the City Airport Terminal). You need to know your terminal here as well. Based on the AREX's information, it works out like this.

  • Airlines you can check in with: 7C, TW and ZE on the T1 side, and KE, OZ, LJ, BX and RS on the T2 side
  • Conditions: only international flights leaving Incheon the same day. Each airline attaches its own caveats, such as excluding routes to the Americas (Guam, Saipan and so on), and allowing only codeshare flights that the airline itself operates (operated by)
  • Check-in cut-off: 3 hours before departure for T1 flights, 3 hours 20 minutes for T2 flights
  • Operating hours: check-in 05:20 to 19:00 (last acceptance 18:50), immigration departure screening 05:30 to 19:00
  • How to get in: passengers who have bought an Express train ticket scan that ticket's QR code at the City Airport Terminal gate

First check whether your airline is among those eight, and if it is, subtract 3 hours from your departure time (3 hours 20 minutes for T2) to set your arrival time at Seoul Station. For what it is worth, this official page still shows the old logo in TW's slot.

Why the old guidance is still circulating: the airlines moved from T1 to T2 one by one

It started with a terminal expansion. The Phase 4 grand opening in December 2024 raised Terminal 2's annual passenger capacity (international) from 23 million to 52 million, and the airport corporation said it was reassigning airlines to rebalance how passengers split between the two terminals.

When What changed Source
2024-12 T2 Phase 4 expansion (annual capacity 23 million to 52 million passengers) Airport corporation press release
As of 2025-06-17 9 airlines at T2. T1 was described as used by OZ plus foreign airlines and low-cost carriers Airport corporation press release
2025-07-29 BX moved from T1 to T2 Airport corporation press release
2025-09-09 RS began handling international departing passengers at T2 (passengers arriving from 00:00 that same day also entered through T2) News report of the airline's announcement
2026-01-14 OZ moved everything, counters, boarding gates and lounges, to T2, starting with flights departing and arriving from 00:00 (Korean time) Airline notice
2026-09-10 TW began operating under its new name. The announcement said the check-in terminal and counter locations stay the same News report of the airline's announcement
2026-11-02 to 12-03 (planned) OZ flight numbers to be converted to KE flight numbers in stages Airline announcement
2026-12-17 (planned) Launch of the merged KE and OZ company Reported in 2026-09
2027-03-17 (planned) Preparations for the launch of the merged LJ, BX and RS (requires an extraordinary shareholders' meeting in December 2026 and merger approval, among other steps) Reported in 2026-08

As announced in 2026-09, the flight number conversion applies to passengers who have booked flights departing on or after 2026-12-17. Reservation and ticket information will be carried over as well, according to the announcement. Whether counter layouts inside T2 will be merged or changed after the integration had not been announced as of 2026-09-18, so if you are departing in December or later, it is safer to check again at that point.

There are two reasons old information stays in circulation for so long. One is that even official pages still carry pre-move screens. The sample booking pop-up image on the AREX Express user guide page still shows OZ as a T1 airline as of 2026-09-18, and the sample image of arrival station selection on the ticket machine shows the OZ and RS logos together in the T1 slot (both airlines have already moved to T2). What we checked here is only the sample images on the web pages; we did not check what the actual ticket machines at the airport or the live booking screens look like now.

The other is that the notices travel along the booking route. When BX changed terminals in 2025, the airport corporation said it would send text messages to customers with reservations, add a notice to e-tickets, and announce it through its website, social media, terminal noticeboards and public address announcements. The flight number conversion was also announced as being notified individually by KakaoTalk, text message and email. If you do not have a Korean phone number or KakaoTalk, please check your email and the airline's in-app notices. If you booked through an overseas travel booking site, we could not confirm which route these notices take, so ask wherever you booked.

TW passengers should double-check the name as well. The airline stated that booking confirmations issued before 2026-09-10 may show the old name, but this causes no problem for boarding, and the TW code, flight numbers, flight schedules and existing booking conditions are all unchanged.

Two ways back when you go to the wrong one: the free shuttle bus and the AREX

Once you realize you are at the wrong terminal, you have two options: the free shuttle bus, which you can board right away without a transit card, and the AREX All-Stop train, which costs 1,200 KRW (with a prepaid or postpaid transit card).

Direction Where to board Where to get off Interval First and last departure from the stop Travel time measured from the timetable
T2 → T1 (Airport Route 03) In front of Gate 7 on T2's 3rd floor In front of Gates 3 and 12 on T1's 3rd floor 7 to 20 min 04:48 · 23:48 About 20 min
T1 → T2 (Airport Route 04) In front of Gate 8 on T1's 3rd floor Center of T2's 3rd floor (around Gates 6 and 7) 10 to 20 min 05:08 · 23:58 About 17 min

There is one thing to watch when reading those times. The route page lists operating hours as 04:30 to 23:35 for Route 03 and 04:30 to 23:20 for Route 04, but 04:30 is the departure time from the Terminal 2 depot for Route 03, and the first bus from the terminal stops is 04:48 and 05:08 as in the table above. The last departures in the stop timetables also run as late as 23:48 and 23:58. If you are near the last bus, check the stop-by-stop timetable rather than the route page. The travel times are not figures published by the airport either: they are the difference between the departure times at the two stops (for example, Route 03 departs the T2 stop at 12:02 and the T1 stop at 12:22).

Wheelchair users can contact the shuttle bus operations department (032-741-3217) to use a free lift vehicle between the terminals. Booking ahead is recommended, and the operating hours differ by source. The shuttle route page says 05:00 to 24:00 while the inter-terminal transfer page says "weekdays 05:00 to 24:00 only," so if you need it on a weekend or public holiday, check with the number above first. Other assistance available inside the airport is covered in Incheon Airport Special Assistance Services.

Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Station and Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Station on the AREX are two different stations, so check which terminal your airline uses before you buy a ticket

You can also switch by AREX. Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Station is on basement level 1 of the Terminal 1 Transportation Center (where the AREX and buses gather) and Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Station is on basement level 1 of the Terminal 2 Transportation Center, and they are two different stations. The adult All-Stop fare between the two stations is 1,200 KRW (with a prepaid or postpaid transit card, from the AREX fare table at airportrailroad.com/train/normal/fare, checked 2026-09-18). The inter-terminal transfer guidance on the Incheon Airport website says "6 minutes, 1,050 KRW," which differs from the operator's fare table. That page also tells you to confirm fares and times with the AREX (1599-7788), so go with the operator's figures.

If you do not have a transit card, you need to buy a single-journey card at the station. That adds 100 KRW to the fare, and the 500 KRW deposit comes back to you at the arrival station. We could not confirm, however, whether the single-journey card machines accept cards issued overseas. If you have no card at all, the sure option is the free shuttle bus.

The timing is easy to misread as well. On the timetable, a train that leaves T2 Station reaches the point of leaving T1 Station 6 to 7 minutes later, but that covers the train ride only. Moving between the 3rd floor departures level and the basement level 1 Transportation Center, plus waiting for the train, comes on top of that. Operating times are a first train at 05:35 and a last train at 00:41 from T1 Station toward T2, and a first train at 05:08 and a last train at 23:50 from T2 Station toward Seoul Station (via T1 Station), the same on weekdays and holidays.

We do not recommend using the Express train to move between terminals. Online booking for Express trains departing from the airport stations fixes Seoul Station as the arrival station, so you cannot select the T1 to T2 leg, and we could not confirm from the terms of carriage whether an Express ticket lets you ride from T1 to T2. Move between the terminals by All-Stop train or free shuttle bus.

Between the last service and the first, neither option exists. The figures below were calculated on 2026-09-18 from the shuttle stop timetables and the AREX station timetables; they are not a gap published by the airport.

Direction Last option Next first option Window when both are unavailable
T1 → T2 All-Stop train 00:41 (T1 Station) Route 04 shuttle 05:08, All-Stop train 05:35 00:41 to 05:08
T2 → T1 Route 03 shuttle 23:48, All-Stop train 23:50 (T2 Station) Route 03 shuttle 04:48, All-Stop train 05:08 23:50 to 04:48

Putting both directions together, from roughly 00:41 to 04:48 you cannot switch terminals by shuttle bus or by AREX. If your itinerary has you arriving late at night and catching an early-morning flight from the other terminal, it is safer not to schedule the move inside that window and to cross over beforehand. If you are already caught in it, the first shuttle is your reference point (04:48 from T2 to T1, 05:08 from T1 to T2). If you need to head into the city in the meantime, see Arriving at Incheon Airport Late at Night.

How to budget time when you arrive at T1 and depart from T2

One thing to get out of the way first. Incheon Airport does not publish a minimum connecting time between T1 and T2 in minutes. The only sentence in the transfer guidance is "please note that moving between T1 and T2 takes time." So this article will not hand you a total either; it will show you the components instead.

Case 1. Transferring inside the secure area. If you already hold your boarding pass for the next flight, or can get it at a transfer desk, you move by shuttle train without leaving the secure area. The shuttle train runs every 5 minutes, and once you board you cannot come back. There is no immigration screening in the steps the airport lists here.

Arriving T1 → departing T2

  1. Go through transfer security screening on the 2nd floor.
  2. Take the shuttle train from basement level 1 to the Concourse.
  3. Change once at the Concourse, arrive at T2 and board.

Arriving T2 → departing T1

  1. Take the shuttle train to the Concourse and change to the T1 service.
  2. Arrive at T1 and go through security screening on the 2nd floor.
  3. Go up to the 3rd floor departures level.

If you do not have a boarding pass, the guidance says it varies by airline and to check with the airline. The transfer desks are on the 3rd floor after security screening at T2, and on the 2nd floor before security screening and the 4th floor after security screening at T1.

Case 2. When you bought the two tickets separately. If you checked bags or cannot collect your next boarding pass in advance, you may have to exit into the arrivals hall, pick up your bags and go through departure procedures again. Whether that is possible has to be confirmed with both airlines. And here is one more wall that only foreign travelers hit. Once you step out past the arrivals hall, you have to go through immigration screening (Immigration Act 「출입국관리법」 Article 12(1)), and depending on your nationality you may need a visa or a Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) (Article 12(3), items 1 and 1-2 of the same article). Check whether you are exempt at k-eta.go.kr.

The K-ETA temporary exemption has been extended from 2026-01-01 through 2026-12-31 (Korean time). It applies to "countries to which the temporary exemption currently applies," and the previous extension notice put that number at 22 countries. Nationals of exempt countries can still apply and pay for a K-ETA if they wish, and whether the exemption will be extended for 2027 and beyond had not been announced as of 2026-09-18.

The elements to add up when budgeting time break down like this.

Segment Confirmed figure Where the figure comes from
Shuttle train (inside the secure area) Every 5 minutes, with one change at the Concourse Incheon Airport transfer guidance
Free shuttle bus (outside the secure area) Intervals of 7 to 20 min (Route 03) and 10 to 20 min (Route 04), about 17 to 20 min in transit Shuttle route page and calculation from stop timetables
AREX All-Stop train (outside the secure area) 6 to 7 min for the train ride, plus going up and down to the Transportation Center and waiting Calculation from AREX station timetables
Immigration screening and baggage claim (separately bought tickets) We could not find a published benchmark time Needs verification
Checking in again International check-in cut-offs differ by airline Booking confirmation and airline guidance

For an early-morning connection, you also need to know when the counters open. At T2, KE opens its counters at 05:30 and OZ at 05:00, and foreign airlines start 2 to 3 hours before departure, according to the airport's guidance. We could not find official pages for airline-by-airline international check-in cut-off times, so no numbers for those are given here. Please confirm them from your booking confirmation and your airline's guidance.

If you were planning to catch a domestic flight at Incheon: there are almost none

In many countries, the big airport that handles international flights handles domestic ones too. Korea is different. You can count the domestic flights leaving Incheon Airport on your fingers.

Open the destination list in the Incheon Airport departures search on 2026-09-18 and there are only three domestic destinations: Gimhae, Daegu and Jeju (based on a 2026-09-18 lookup, window 09-05 to 09-24). And even those are of two different kinds.

  • Incheon to Jeju is a route that ordinary passengers book and fly. 7C launched it twice weekly on 2026-05-12 and has announced that from 2026-11-02 through 2027-03-27 it will increase to three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We could not confirm whether other airlines fly the same route, so please check operating days and conditions with the airline before booking.
  • Gimhae and Daegu are transfer-only domestic flights (환승전용 내항기). These are flights laid on between regional airports and Incheon Airport for the purpose of connecting to an international flight, and Incheon Airport's guidance states that passengers transferring from an international flight to one of these cannot leave the arrivals hall and go through the same security screening as departures when they transfer. Passengers arriving on a transfer-only flight from Daegu also have to go through transfer security screening when they connect to an international flight. You cannot use these as ordinary domestic flights to get into the city, and eligibility details such as whether they can be bought on their own have to be confirmed with the airline.

The rest of the domestic flights mostly leave from Gimpo Airport. So if your itinerary has you landing at Incheon and connecting to a domestic flight, changing airports is the default, and how to do that is in the next section.

If you do end up flying domestic from Incheon, the procedure goes like this. The domestic check-in counters are near Exit 3 on the 1st floor of Terminal 1, the entrance to the departures area after security screening is near Exit 1 on the 1st floor of the same terminal, and boarding is on the 2nd floor. If you checked in ahead through the app or website and have no bags to check, you can skip the counter. It also means that if you landed at T2, you have to move to T1 for domestic check-in.

There is one thing to sort out in advance. Domestic flights require an original, unexpired photo ID. Which IDs count, how to match the name on the booking, and the documents needed when traveling with children are covered in How to Match Your Domestic Flight Booking Name to Your Airport ID.

Moving from Incheon to Gimpo: the AREX Express train does not stop at Gimpo

This is where people get stuck most often. They board thinking "the AREX Express train is the train to the airport," only for it to sail past Gimpo Airport Station without stopping.

The Express train runs non-stop between Seoul Station and Incheon Airport. Its route is Seoul Station > Incheon Airport Terminal 1 > Incheon Airport Terminal 2, so it does not stop at Gimpo Airport Station in between. Gimpo Airport Station is an All-Stop train stop, and from there you can transfer to Line 5, Line 9, the Gimpo Goldline and the Seohae Line.

So take the All-Stop train when going from Incheon Airport to Gimpo Airport. The adult fare (with a prepaid or postpaid transit card) is 4,350 KRW from Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Station to Gimpo Airport Station and 4,950 KRW from Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Station (from the AREX fare table, checked 2026-09-18). If you have no transit card, buy the single-journey card described above.

First and last trains differ by station, so check the AREX station timetables. If you have to change airports in the early morning or late at night, it is safer to work backward from the train times rather than the flight times. To compare the other ways of getting from the airport into the city, see 4 Ways to Get from Incheon Airport to Downtown Seoul, and for the difference between Express and All-Stop trains, see AREX Express vs. All-Stop Tickets Compared.

At Gimpo, the domestic and international terminals are entirely different buildings

The same problem comes up once more when you reach Gimpo Airport. Gimpo Airport's domestic terminal and international terminal are different buildings, so if you step off the AREX and simply walk out, you may not be at the terminal you want.

The two terminals are linked by a free airport circular bus. The boarding points are fixed. From the international terminal, exit through Gate 1 on the 1st floor and board at Stop 5 on your right; from the domestic terminal, exit through Gate 4 on the 1st floor and board at Stop 8 on your left. The route that circles only the passenger terminals runs from 08:00 to 23:00 at intervals of 12 to 15 minutes. The route that also takes in the cargo terminal runs from 06:00 to 23:00, with intervals that vary by time of day (25 minutes from 06:00 to 07:00, 15 to 20 minutes from 07:00 to 20:00, 25 minutes from 20:00 to 23:00, checked 2026-09-17). There is also an underground walkway between them, but the walking time differs by source, so we have not stated it here.

Domestic routes out of Gimpo serve seven places: Gwangju, Busan (Gimhae), Yeosu, Ulsan, Jeju, Jinju (Sacheon) and Pohang (Pohang Gyeongju), and most of the flight schedule is the Jeju route (from Korea Airports Corporation's flight schedule, checked 2026-09-17). How to get around inside Gimpo Airport and into the city is covered in more detail in How to Get Between Gimpo Airport's Domestic and International Terminals.

Taking the AREX from Seoul Station: T1 Station and T2 Station are different stations

There are two kinds of train from Seoul Station to Incheon Airport. The Express train runs non-stop, and the All-Stop train stops at the stations in between.

Train Arrival station Travel time Adult fare
Express train Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Station 43 min 13,000 KRW (children 9,500 KRW)
Express train Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Station 51 min 13,000 KRW (children 9,500 KRW)
All-Stop train Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Station 59 min 4,750 KRW (with a prepaid or postpaid transit card)
All-Stop train Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Station 66 min 5,350 KRW (with a prepaid or postpaid transit card)

The Express train runs 26 services a day in each direction, with the first at 06:00 and the last at 23:00 based on departures from Seoul Station, and the intervals calculated from the timetable are generally 35 to 50 minutes. Tickets are sold at the Express train customer service centers on basement level 2 of Seoul Station and on basement level 1 of each terminal's Transportation Center. The All-Stop train can take 2 to 6 minutes longer depending on the train.

If you are taking the Express train from Seoul Station, you can also buy an "AREX Express pass" in advance from the airport railroad card on the LACHA app home screen. According to the LACHA app's own guidance, you can buy up to 10 minutes before the train departs, and with the barcode or code number you receive in the app you collect the ticket at a self-service machine at Incheon Airport or Seoul Station, then scan that ticket's QR code at the QR scanner on the station gate to go through. Refunds and changes are not available, and please check the price in the app. We could not confirm whether the purchase screen lets you choose T1 or T2 as the arrival station, so check once more that the arrival station printed on the ticket you collect matches your terminal.

The arrival station question comes up in Express train booking just the same. Choose Seoul Station as the departure station and you then have to choose between Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Station and Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Station, and the AREX itself tells you to "check the terminal information shown on your air ticket and select accordingly." In the other direction, going from the airport to Seoul Station, the arrival station is selected automatically as Seoul Station. If you are departing from T2 and get off at T1 Station, you have to move again by the shuttle bus or All-Stop train described above, and late at night you could land in the window when both of those have stopped.

Check once more when you get off, too. An Express train that left Seoul Station stops at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Station and then travels another 8 minutes to reach Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Station. Making a habit of checking the terminal number once when you buy the ticket and once before you step off the train is the cheapest insurance there is.

Q1. The airline on my booking confirmation is different from the one under "Operated by." Which terminal do I go to? The operating carrier, that is, the one listed under "Operated by." An airline notice states that codeshare and marketing flights must use the terminal of the airline that actually operates them. The first two letters of the flight number may be the code of the airline that sold the ticket, so going by that alone can send you to the wrong terminal. Look the operating carrier up in the table in this article, and if departure is within a week, enter the flight number in the departures search on the Incheon Airport website to check once more.

Q2. Posts online say OZ is at Terminal 1. Is that right? Not anymore. OZ moved everything, counters, boarding gates and lounges, to Terminal 2, starting with flights departing and arriving from 00:00 (Korean time) on 2026-01-14. BX moved earlier, on 2025-07-29, and RS on 2025-09-09. The sample images on the AREX official user guide page still show the pre-move layout as of 2026-09-18, so it is easy to run into old guidance. On top of that, OZ flight numbers are due to be converted to KE flight numbers in stages from 2026-11-02 to 12-03 (for passengers booked on flights departing on or after 2026-12-17), so if you are flying in winter, check your booking details and airline notices again.

Q3. I came to the wrong terminal. How long will it take? During the day you have two options. The free shuttle buses are Airport Route 03 from T2 to T1 (board in front of Gate 7 on T2's 3rd floor) and Airport Route 04 from T1 to T2 (board in front of Gate 8 on T1's 3rd floor), with travel times measured from the timetable of about 20 minutes and 17 minutes. Intervals are 7 to 20 minutes for Route 03 and 10 to 20 minutes for Route 04. The AREX All-Stop train costs 1,200 KRW (transit card) and the train ride is 6 to 7 minutes, but moving between the 3rd floor and the basement level 1 Transportation Center plus waiting comes on top. What to watch out for is the middle of the night. Line up the shuttle stop timetables with the train timetables and from roughly 00:41 to 04:48 both options have stopped.

Q4. I land at T1 and catch another flight from T2. Do I have to go through immigration? It depends. If you already hold your boarding pass for the next flight or can get it at a transfer desk, you move inside the secure area by shuttle train (every 5 minutes, with one change at the Concourse) without going outside, and there is no immigration screening in the steps the airport lists. But if you bought the two tickets separately and you checked bags or cannot collect the boarding pass in advance, you may have to exit into the arrivals hall, pick up your bags and go through departure procedures again. Whether that is possible has to be confirmed with both airlines, and once you step out past the arrivals hall you may need a visa or a K-ETA depending on your nationality, so check whether you are exempt at k-eta.go.kr.

Q5. How do I connect to a domestic flight after landing at Incheon Airport? There are almost no domestic flights out of Incheon. As of the 2026-09-18 departures search the domestic destinations are three, Gimhae, Daegu and Jeju, and of those the one ordinary passengers book and fly is Incheon to Jeju (based on the departures search; the 7C service runs twice a week and increases to three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2026-11-02 through 2027-03-27. We could not confirm whether other airlines fly it), while Gimhae and Daegu are transfer-only domestic flights for international connections. The rest of the domestic flights mostly leave from Gimpo Airport. Going from Incheon to Gimpo, the Express train does not stop at Gimpo Airport Station, so take the All-Stop train (4,350 KRW from Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Station, 4,950 KRW from Terminal 2 Station, with a transit card). If you are flying domestic from Incheon, the check-in counters are near Exit 3 on the 1st floor of Terminal 1, you need an original unexpired photo ID, and which IDs count and the documents needed when traveling with children are covered in How to Match Your Domestic Flight Booking Name to Your Airport ID.
